USD 312 Work Based Internship Highlight
Intern: Brookelyn Barnett
Pathway of Study: Early Childhood Development & Services
Supervisors:
Mrs. Kincaid, Kindergarten Teacher at Haven Grade School
Mrs. Brammer, Special Education Teacher at Plum Creek Elementary School
What does Brookelyn think of the Haven High School Internship Program?
"My internship consists of going to Haven Grade to be in the Kindergarten room. I have enjoyed going to the grade school and have made so many connections with the little kiddos. They are so energetic and so fun to be around in general. I have also been to Plum Creek Elementary last semester where I was helping out in a special education classroom. Being in a special education class, you see different ways of teaching and ways of interacting with kids compared to a general education classroom. I learned so much from being in the special education room and again it was a big eye opener for where and what I plan to do in the future. By doing this internship it has shown me the pros and cons of being a teacher. This is very helpful for deciding whether I want to teach when I get older."

USD 312 Work Based Internship Highlight
Intern: Tanya Yoder
Pathway: Applied Business Development
Supervisor: Amanda Wen, Published Author
What does Tanya think of Haven High School’s Internship Program?
“Our internship program at Haven High School is a great opportunity for all students to take their first step into the real world! There are countless career options that are available for curious students. The Junior Shadow Day we offer is something I suggest to all students to give them a better idea of what they would like to do for their internship. For example, the internship I have been going through is an author internship. This is one that my employer and I kind of made up as we went along. So you can do an internship that hasn’t even been done yet, if you’re able to find the right employer. All that said, the internship program is a fantastic way to get to know yourself a little better and see what you really want your plans after high school to be.”

HHS students and parents that have not yet attended student led conferences, we encourage you to do so tonight from 4-8 pm. After your scheduled conference you can still visit other teachers as needed. See you tonight!

Just a reminder that school will be in session tomorrow. The teacher collaboration day that was originally scheduled for March 10th was moved to April 24th.

Just a reminder that HHS Student Led Conferences are tonight and Thursday night from 4 pm - 8 pm. Every student should have a scheduled time period through their Advisory Teacher. We would love to see parents and students attend so our students can share all of the important things they are doing. See you tonight!

Good morning Wildcat fans! Today the girls basketball team hosts the first round of substate and tomorrow the boys will host. Both games begin at 7:00. Because this is a KSHSAA event, student admission is $6 and adults are $8. We will not be accepting passes. Please be respectful of our gate workers about this issue, as this is a KSHSAA event. Thanks, and Go Wildcats!

Haven High School Student Led Parent Teacher Conferences are right around the corner on March 7th and 9th from 4:00-8:00pm. Parents will have the opportunity to sign up for a time to visit with the student and their advisory teacher during the PT Conference schedule. If you have not been contacted by your student’s advisory teacher to schedule a time to attend the conferences, please feel free to reach out in an email and schedule with the advisor. We look forward to seeing you there!

Parents/Guardians:
All middle school and grade school students attending HMS/HHS events are expected to be sitting in the stands watching and cheering. Students are allowed to move freely to use restrooms, get concessions, and move between gyms to watch the games.
USD 312 Administration will give students a warning and chance to go sit with parents. If they are asked multiple times, they will be asked to leave the game.
Please help ensure everyone’s safety and allow everyone to enjoy the game.
Thank you,
USD 312 Administration Team
