USD 312 Work Based Internship Highlight
Intern: Brookelyn Barnett
Pathway of Study: Early Childhood Development & Services
Supervisors:
Mrs. Kincaid, Kindergarten Teacher at Haven Grade School
Mrs. Brammer, Special Education Teacher at Plum Creek Elementary School
What does Brookelyn think of the Haven High School Internship Program?
"My internship consists of going to Haven Grade to be in the Kindergarten room. I have enjoyed going to the grade school and have made so many connections with the little kiddos. They are so energetic and so fun to be around in general. I have also been to Plum Creek Elementary last semester where I was helping out in a special education classroom. Being in a special education class, you see different ways of teaching and ways of interacting with kids compared to a general education classroom. I learned so much from being in the special education room and again it was a big eye opener for where and what I plan to do in the future. By doing this internship it has shown me the pros and cons of being a teacher. This is very helpful for deciding whether I want to teach when I get older."

USD 312 Work Based Internship Highlight
Intern: Tanya Yoder
Pathway: Applied Business Development
Supervisor: Amanda Wen, Published Author
What does Tanya think of Haven High School’s Internship Program?
“Our internship program at Haven High School is a great opportunity for all students to take their first step into the real world! There are countless career options that are available for curious students. The Junior Shadow Day we offer is something I suggest to all students to give them a better idea of what they would like to do for their internship. For example, the internship I have been going through is an author internship. This is one that my employer and I kind of made up as we went along. So you can do an internship that hasn’t even been done yet, if you’re able to find the right employer. All that said, the internship program is a fantastic way to get to know yourself a little better and see what you really want your plans after high school to be.”
