Dear Haven Grade School Families,

As we prepare for another school year, we are looking for parents and family members who are interested in becoming part of the Haven Grade School PTO!

Our PTO plays an important role in supporting our students, staff, and school community. Throughout the year, we help organize fun events for students and families while also coordinating fundraisers that provide valuable resources and opportunities for our school.

Whether you're a returning family or brand new to Haven Grade School, we would love to have you involved!

There are many ways to participate:

Serve in a formal PTO leadership position.
Attend our monthly PTO meetings when you're able.
Volunteer to help with events and activities throughout the year—even if you're unable to attend meetings regularly.

We understand that everyone has different schedules, so there is no expectation that you attend every meeting or volunteer for every event. Whether you can give a few hours throughout the year or would like to take on a larger leadership role, your support makes a meaningful difference for our students and staff.

If you are interested in joining the PTO or would simply like to learn more about how you can help, please email Principal Braedon Morrison at bmorrison@havenschools.com.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to partner with us in making Haven Grade School an even better place for our students to learn, grow, and thrive. We look forward to welcoming new faces to our PTO this year!

Go Wildcats!

USD 312 Community,

On Monday evening, the USD 312 Board of Education held a work session to continue discussions regarding the district's Capital Outlay budget and future facility needs.

The Board reviewed a comprehensive list of potential projects, along with the district's ongoing annual capital needs such as HVAC replacements, roof maintenance, technology, uniforms, vehicles, and other facility improvements. These annual expenses remain an important part of maintaining our schools and protecting our community's investment.

In addition to those recurring needs, the Board identified several priority projects that will be explored further and considered as part of future Capital Outlay planning:

  • Repairing and improving the exterior of all district buildings

  • Upgrading the electrical service in the Haven Grade School gym and installing an HVAC system in the Haven Grade School gym

  • Upgrading and remodeling our shops/CTE classrooms

  • Improvements to the track

  • Multi-purpose room/space addition at HHS

In addition, we will continue to address smaller projects identified through our district facilities study as funding allows. While not every project can be completed at once, the BoE is committed to making steady improvements each year.

It is important to note that these projects have not been approved at this time. Monday night's discussion was part of the Board's long-range planning and budgeting process to help establish priorities. As cost estimates are developed and funding options are reviewed, projects will be brought back to the Board for consideration and formal approval through the district's regular budgeting and approval process.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Reminder - Capital Outlay Work Session tonight! HHS Library - 6:00 PM

Dear USD 312 Families,

As we look ahead to the upcoming school year, we want to remind you about the upcoming changes to our student cell phone policy resulting from the new "bell to bell" electronic device ban passed by the Kansas legislature this past spring.

We ask that all families please review the Cell Phone Policy FAQ document attached/linked below for detailed information on how these new rules will be implemented across our schools, including specific storage procedures, exceptions, and how to contact your child during the school day. We will continue to update this FAQ page if and when any further clarifications are needed. This live document will be housed on the USD 312 district website.

Thank you so much for your cooperation, help, and continued support as we work together to ensure a smooth transition for our students.

Proud to be a Wildcat,

Craig Idacavage, Superintendent

USD 312 would like to recognize and thank Don Etchison for an incredible 52 years of dedicated service to public education in Kansas.

Don began his career in USD 312 in 1974 as a teacher and throughout the years served students and the district in a variety of roles, including coach, mentor, and most recently as a custodian. No matter the position, Don consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, commitment to students, and pride in serving the USD 312 community.

Over five decades, Don impacted countless students, athletes, coworkers, and families through his steady presence, dedication, and willingness to serve wherever needed. Few individuals dedicate an entire lifetime to public education, and Don’s 52 years of service reflect a remarkable commitment to Kansas schools and the students they serve.

As Don and his wife begin an exciting new chapter and make their move to Arizona, we want to thank him for everything he has given to USD 312 and public education. His contributions and legacy will not be forgotten.

We wish Don and his wife the very best in retirement and hope Arizona brings them sunshine, relaxation, and many wonderful new memories.

Thank you, Don!

Brynn Loughrie has been named the USD 312 4th Quarter Impact Award recipient in recognition of her outstanding dedication to students, staff, and the school community.

Brynn exemplifies the kind of educator every district hopes to have. She consistently gives her time, energy, and heart to supporting students and colleagues while helping create a positive, welcoming culture within the building. Her enthusiasm and encouraging spirit have a meaningful impact on those around her each day.

Throughout the school year, Brynn has gone above and beyond to support students both academically and emotionally. One example of her leadership was the creation of the C.A.T.S. initiative for students in grades 3–6 during state assessment season. The program encouraged students to focus on Carefully Reading, Attendance, Taking their time, and Showing their work. Through her creativity and organization, Brynn helped make the assessment experience both motivating and rewarding for students by partnering with the PTO to provide incentives and celebrations.

In addition to her work in the classroom, Brynn dedicates countless hours coordinating the Food for Kids program, helping ensure students have access to food support outside of school hours. Her commitment reflects a deep understanding that meeting students’ basic needs is essential to their success in school.

Brynn also volunteers her time supporting community youth events, including After Prom, demonstrating her continued investment in students beyond the school day.

Her leadership, positivity, and servant-hearted approach continue to make a tremendous impact across USD 312. We are grateful for all Brynn does for our students, staff, and community and are proud to recognize her as our 4th Quarter Impact Award recipient.
