Announcement for ALL USD 312 households:
The US Department of Agriculture announced that it has extended it summer free meal program to continue serving free meals to all children through June 30, 2021. The agency previously said the program would be extended until the end of 2020.
“As our nation reopens and people return to work, it remains critical our children continue to receive safe, healthy, and nutritious food,” said Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, USDA has provided an unprecedented amount of flexibilities to help schools feed kids through the school meal programs, and today, we are also extending summer meal program flexibilities for as long as we can, legally and financially. We appreciate the incredible efforts by our school foodservice professionals year in and year out, but this year we have an unprecedented situation.”

This is just a reminder that USD 312 gating criteria is a fluid process that does not guarantee remote learning. If you are not comfortable with your child being in the physical school setting, we do have the option for your child to attend our Virtual Academy. The schools gating criteria will determine what learning model we will be in when we come back at semester. The new semester starts on January 5, 2021. If you are interested in Virtual learning for next semester, you will need to contact Kara Schwindt by Dec 16th to make a change. You can contact her at: kschwindt@havenschools.com or 620-465-3445.
